On the outskirts of Keswick stands the Pheasant Inn, a traditional pub serving high quality food and local real ales which is currently owned and run by Michelle and Alan. We take pride in preparing and serving some of the best traditional pub grub in the area such as free range pork Cumberland Sausage, our legendary Fish Pie and handmade Steak Pie as well as our Chefs specialities such as Guinea fowl, Cumbrian Lamb Henry or locally caught Rainbow Trout.

Finish off with a pint of Jennings ale including our own Pheasant Ale. Put all this together with the warm welcome you will always receive and what more could you need to end your day in and around Keswick?

A good Lakeland pub should always serve well kept Real Ales, The Pheasant Inn, here in Keswick, is up there with the best as Alan always makes sure this is so. We are constantly monitoring the quality of our ale and, as a member of CAMRA and CASK MARQUE, with the care we give our ales you can be assured of an excellent pint.

Our real ales come from the extensive Marstons Portfolio but mainly feature Jennings Ales which are brewed only 12 miles away at Jennings Brewery in Cockermouth.


An ambience of its own

The Pheasant Inn has a unique feel which is supplied not only by the welcome you receive but also by the ‘locals’. There is also a varied assortment of prints and antiques on display. Michelle and Alan are particularly proud to show off their collection of John Wilkinson. Wilks, as he was known locally, would have a pint of ale on a Friday night sat by the fire and sketch some of his friends in the bar or unroll his latest works for their amusement. Some of the sketches are on display for you to enjoy to.

Michelle, Alan and their chefs aim is for to you to experience a flavoursome, filling and good value meal that you will enjoy and remember for a long time. All our meat is locally sourced and wherever possible the rest of our ingredients are also sourced from within Cumbria.

Here at the Pheasant we have a daily specials board as well as our menu which as well as a good variety of delicious starters such as blackpudding croquettes, Crispy Whitebait served with our homemade tartare sauce and local trout pate. The main menu includes traditional food such as Cumberland sausage made with local free range pork, Gammon and Eggs and handmade Beef Pie, as well as a good variety of vegetarian dishes we have our Chefs specialities page with local Venison Bourguignon, Guinea Fowl and Cumbrian favourite Lamb Henry and locally caught Rainbow Trout.

Sunday RoastWe haven’t forgotten about your little ones and have a good varied menu for them also.

When everyone has had their main course you can choose from an assortment of delicious desserts which includes our homemade Sticky Toffee Pudding, Lemon Possett served with shortbread or you could indulge in a Platter of Cumbrian Cheeses.

Please be aware although we are a dog friendly pub we only allow dogs in the bar area and not the dining rooms.

You are, of course, all welcome to enjoy your meal in the bar area (subject to table availability) or one of the outside tables in front of The Pheasant.  We have a large outside beer terrace where food can also be served (weather permitting).  We do not take reservations in the bar area or outside dining but you are welcome to have a drink or try one of our local real ales until a table becomes available.

Directions

The Pheasant Inn is situated just off the A66 roundabout at Crosthwaite on the north western edge of Keswick. Stay on the A66 when you reach Keswick until you reach a roundabout. Take the exit into town and the Pheasant Inn is just down on the right.

You can walk from the town centre in ten minutes; either through Fitz Park or up Crosthwaite Road.

If you have walked on the Skiddaw range of hills our pub is ideally situated for a celebratory drink and meal when you come down.
